Developer Community Manager
Grow and run the community around Starhas Learning challenges and hackathons — the developers, organizers and campus programs who make skill-based hiring happen.
About the role
Starhas Learning runs on community. Every challenge launch, every hackathon, every campus program is people deciding to show up and build. This role owns that: growing the developer community around Starhas Learning, running the events that feed it, and making sure the people who participate have a genuinely good experience — whether or not they get hired that week.
You'll be the human voice of a product built on a simple belief: hire developers by what they build, not by their resume. That belief has to feel true in every interaction the community has with us.
What you'll do
- Own the Starhas Learning developer community across forums, Discord/Slack, and social channels — set the tone, keep it useful, keep it kind.
- Run coding challenges and hackathons end to end: promotion, participant support during the event, and post-event follow-up.
- Build partnerships with hackathon organizers, coding communities and campus programs that want their events to convert into real hiring.
- Turn community signal — questions, complaints, feature asks — into clear input for product and content.
- Write and coordinate content: announcements, recaps, developer guides, and the occasional good meme.
- Track what's working with real numbers: participation, retention, and event-to-pipeline conversion.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years in community management, developer relations, or running technical events — with examples we can look at.
- Comfort with a developer audience: you don't need to ship production code, but you should be able to read a challenge brief and hold a credible conversation with engineers.
- Strong written English and a warm, clear voice.
- Organized under load — you can run a live hackathon weekend without dropping the details.
- Bonus: you've participated in or organized hackathons yourself.
How we'll assess you
We hire the way we ask our customers to. Instead of grading your resume, we'll give you a short, paid, realistic task — for example, a plan for a community event and a sample announcement — scored on a rubric you'll see in advance. Then we talk it through. You'll always know what's being measured.
